Julia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and her Master of Arts degree in Media Arts,
with a focus on Children’s Media, from Emerson College. Julia began working as a reading and writing tutor as an undergraduate student in 2003.
After graduation, in addition to tutoring, Julia expanded her teaching skills through her work as an animation instructor and applied her writing skills as a research assistant at American University, focusing on adolescent engagement with digital media. Her passion has always centered around education, communications, and fostering confidence and critical thinking skills in youth.
At Jill Broder’s Tutoring Center, Julia specializes in verbal exam preparation for the SSAT, HSPT, SAT, and ACT, college application essays, the college application process, and language arts and essay writing instruction at the high school level. Julia enjoys helping students improve their test-taking skills and find their own voices and confidence in writing. She tailors sessions to students’ individual learning styles to help reach (or exceed!) goals.
