MARCI MALNIK, LCSW-C

Marci Malnik, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and has been in private practice for over two decades. Her professional career showcases not only her range of expertise, but her dedicated work ethic as well. Her extensive experience ranges from working with a variety of school systems to having her own private practice today.

Combining a variety of therapeutic approaches in her private practice, Marci draws on her rich experience with individuals, couples, and families alike. She has worked as the clinical supervisor and program therapist at Behavioral Health Partners of Fredrick, Inc., where she provided mental health treatment to children, adolescents, and families at high risk. Later, she worked as a clinical specialist with the Foundation School of Montgomery County, and also served as a school social worker for the Fairfax County school system. Her work in the Maryland school systems included contributing to and chairing individualized educational plan (IEP) meetings, identifying the academic and emotional needs of students, developing behavioral intervention plans for students in crisis, and helping to reintegrate students into the school environment after extended absences.

Today, Marci’s private practice as a psychotherapist specializes in attention deficit disorder, mood disorders (including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders), the long-term effects of trauma, and family dynamics in anything from blended families to single-parent households, with special attention to facilitating the healing process for troubled relationships among children, adolescents, couples, and families. A key component to Marci’s approach with students is actively involving parents in the educational and emotional needs of their children.
