Originally from Baltimore, Sofi spent a few years teaching in Chicago after completing her M.Ed in Secondary Math Education at the University of Michigan. Before being called to teaching, Sofi earned a B.S. in math and computer science and worked as a software developer in a number of companies, big and small. She credits her passion for teaching and mathematics to her grandmother, who inspired her fascination with math at a young age. She has a range of teaching experience, including working in an inner city high school as well as an independent middle school for gifted children. She believes all students can be successful in math and values an individualized approach to meeting each child's unique needs. Her other interests include ballroom dancing, swimming, American history, and vocal jazz.
