Michelle’s greatest passion in life is education and student advocacy. She has been a dedicated educator for over 15 years in both private and public schools. Having both a general education certification and a Master’s degree in special education, Michelle has experience teaching and tutoring various levels of students in the areas of executive function skills, academic and organizational support, twice exceptional (GTLD), government, English and writing.  She has been trained as a reading specialist with the Wilson Reading System, Visible Thinking (Harvard's Project Zero) and Harkness instruction.

 

Michelle believes in a collaborative approach to student success. Working as a team with parents/guardians, students become empowered learners.  Developing trusted relationships with students and parents ensures a positive academic outcome.

 

Due to her individualized attention to each of her students, Michelle is able to prioritize each student’s specific growth areas, collaborate a specifically targeted instructional approach and finally implement a confidence-boosting session. Michelle has reviewed, participated in and written accommodation plans for students. She has a successful track record in supporting writing essays (for college applications, high school admission applications, confirmation research and letters, and general class content), standardized testing prep, (HSPT, ACT, SAT), time/assignment management, visual schedules and summer regression support.
